As per reports, Rangbah Shnong Rangshel Myrthong, head of the Dorbar stated that there were no records of any permission ever being granted for the quarry.
He said that the quarry was started over 15 years ago by the former Sordar of Elaka Laitkroh, completely bypassing the village council and potentially acting illegally.
The quarry, currently managed by the former Sordar’s wife, reportedly exports truckloads of boulders to Bangladesh on a daily basis.
