Meghalaya government has decided to allow operation of restaurants, cafes and food outlets from June 22.
This came through an order issued by Meghalaya chief secretary, MS Rao, on Wednesday.
Operations of barbershops, beauty parlours are also allowed subject to compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) being issued by the Meghalaya Health & Family Welfare department.
However, the operation of restaurants/cafes/food outlets located along the national highways has been allowed subject to compliance with the SOP being issued by the Meghalaya Tourism department.
“The deputy commissioners shall regulate the schedule and timing of operations. The deputy commissioners may restrict the activities and number of shops/outlets to be opened as well as the locations depending on the local situation and to meet the social distancing norms,” the order said.
The deputy commissioners shall ensure strict compliance with all protocols and guidelines laid down by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the order further said.
