Meghalaya Police have recovered five pistols belonging to suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants from of East Garo Hills district.

Acting on a specific input, a team of SF-10 commandos of Meghalaya police on Saturday conducted a search operation at Patalgre village in Durama Range of East Garo Hills district.

During the search five 7.65 mm automatic pistols believed to be of GNLA rebels were recovered.

“As part of our continuous effort to trace weapons hidden by militants in the jungles of Durama range, we recovered five 7.65 mm automatic pistols believed to be of the GNLA,” East Garo Hills SP BA Sangma said.

The pistols have developed rust apparently because they remained beneath the ground for a long time.??
