The Congress in Meghalaya has emerged as single-largest party in the GHADC elections.
The Congress has won 12 out of 29 GHADC seats that went to polls on April 12.

The Congress won the seats of – Amongpara, Dengnakpara, Balachanda, Batabari, Shyamnagar, Boldamgre, Betasing, Samandagre, Williamnagar, Rongrong, Damas and Kharkutta.
It was a neck-to-neck contest between the Congress and the NPP.
The NPP in Meghalaya won 11 out of 29 GHADC seats.

The BJP, on the other hand, managed to win 2 GHADC seats.

The BJP staged a major upset by wresting the Tura seat from the NPP in the GHADC elections.
Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak won the Tura seat, inflicting a major loss to the NPP.
“It’s a win against corruption,” said BJP’s Bernard Marak after winning the Tura seat in the GHADC elections.
BJP also managed to win the Dalu (Baremgapara) seat.
In another major upset, Independent candidate from Rochonpara seat – Arbinestone Marak emerged as the “giant slayer”.
Arbinestone Marak defeated incumbent GHADC CEM Dipul Marak.
“We accept the verdict,” said senior NPP leader WR Kharlukhi on incumbent CEM Dipul Marak’s loss in the GHADC elections from Rochonpara seat.
The NPP won 11 GHADC seats – Darugre, Silki, Siju, Babelapara, Jengjal, Asanang, Nogorpara, Naguapara, Gasuapara, Bajendoba and Raksamgre.
“I would like to thank the people for making me victorious”, said NPP’s Grahambell Sangma after winning Jengjal seat.
