Guwahati: Several exporters have raised a demand for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into alleged illegal activities at weighbridges operated by the Transport Department in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
They claimed that operators are allowing overloaded trucks to pass without proper scrutiny, resulting in significant revenue losses for the state government and damage to roads.

They also alleged that trucks carrying up to 12 metric tonnes of limestone are being allowed to pass without proper checks, causing significant damage to the roads.
