The East Garo Hills district administration in Meghalaya has decided to conduct all meetings of the administration in a paperless manner.

East Garo Hills DC, Swapnil Tembe, in an order said that during reviews and meetings, a lot of papers were being wasted in terms of printing reports and agendas, and furnishing the same to all those present in the meetings, despite the use of projectors to display the presentation.

“This results in unnecessary wastage of paper as the data is already presented on the screen. For convenience of all attendees, the presentation can also be shared to everyone’s phone via email or WhatsApp,” the DC said.

He agreed that sometimes hard copies may be needed for in-depth analysis, but stated that the requirement was a small fraction of the amount of paper being wasted.

“Please make efforts to go paperless in your review meetings. This one small step will drastically reduce your paper requirement while also cutting expenses. Needless to say the environment will benefit too with less trees being chopped off for paper,” the DC said.
