A woman in Meghalaya, who tested positive for COVID-19, delivered a baby on Friday at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong.
“The woman gave birth to a baby boy and both the mother and son are in good health. They are kept in the isolation ward of the hospital. I extend my congratulations to the mother,” health and family eelfare minister A L Hek said.

The samples taken from the new born baby were sent for test.
He said that the mother will be re-tested after 14 days.
The woman and her husband had returned from Delhi recently. Her husband, has also tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing treatment in Civil hospital, Shillong .
