Meghlaya chief minister, Conrad K Sangma on Thursday walked to work as part of the launch of the Fit India Movement.

However, most of his ministers and officials did not.

Conrad started at 9 am on foot from his official residence Goodwood Bungalow to the chief minister’ office at the main Secretariat.

Walking via Nan Polo (Wards Lake) road, the chief minister reached the state Secretariat at 9.27 am.

He was accompanied only by security personnel and some officials of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

No other ministers were seen walking to office.

Many vehicles also follow passed through the road where the chief minister was walking.

At 10 am, the chief minister attended the function for launching the Fit India Movement at the Yojana Bhavan, Main Secretariat.

The Fit India Movement was launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi.

Not as euphoric as the function at the national capital which was organised at the Indira Gandhi stadium, the function at the Yojana Bhavan Auditorium, Main Secretariat was a normal one.

Students from various schools were not in attendance except students of Kiddies Corner School.

Among the ministers, only health minister, A L Hek attended the function along with chief secretary, P S Thangkhiew, additional chief secretary, Rebecca V Suchiang and other officials.

Adding more cold to the function at the Yojana Bhavan, one of the screens installed for live telecast of the function from New Delhi did not function, causing embarrassment to the organizers.

The chief minister, health Minister and other officials on the dais were facing the screen that failed to function due to technical problem.

Later the problem was rectified.
