Meghalaya: Congress says BJP has larger agenda regarding polls

Vincent Pala

Guwahati: Vincent H Pala, Congress candidate and Lok Sabha member, cautioned against the BJP’s apparent plan to withdraw from Lok Sabha polls in Meghalaya and support the NPP instead.

Pala reportedly claimed that this move might be part of a larger strategy, potentially aiming for a stronger hold in the Rajya Sabha.

He emphasized the BJP’s purported ambition to secure a two-thirds majority in both houses to push through legislative agendas unopposed, raising concerns about potential amendments to the Constitution.

Pala warned against the “BJP’s alleged agenda to transform India” into a Hindu state, drawing parallels with Islamic states.

Additionally, Pala criticized the NPP-led MDA Government for purportedly failing to secure special assistance from the Centre and instead burdening the state with loans from international agencies.
