The opposition Congress has released the final list of 12 candidates, who will contest in the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
The polling will be held on April 9.
As per the list, the names of the candidates and their constituencies are: James Sangma – Babelapara, Stevie M. Marak – Boldamgre, Jagadish Ch Hajong – Zikzak, Sanjay Koch – Betasing, Malcolm M. Sangma – Rochonpara, Agassi R. Marak – Balachanda, Ashahel D. Shira – Batabari, Habibuz Zaman – Shyamnagar, Joyson R. Marak – Raksamgre, Levastone T. Sangma – Jengjal, Manseng Momin – Bolsong and Lahitson M. Sangma – Samandagre.
Earlier, Congress released the first list of 17 candidates for 17 district council constituencies.
The GHADC has 30 members, 29 of them elected in the battle of ballot from 29 constituencies and one member nominated by the Governor.
Counting of votes will be held on April 14.
The polling will begin at 7 am and end at 4 pm.
The five-year term of the GHADC expired on October 18, 2020.
But fresh elections could not be conducted due to the COVID19 situation and the GHADC came under the Governor’s rule for six months which will end on April 18.
