Agatha Sangma and her husband Patrick Marak.

A compliant was filed against two persons for alleged threats on social media against Meghalaya Lok Sabha MP Agatha Sangma and her husband Patrick Marak.

The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association on Monday filed an FIR at the Tura police station against two social media users, who allegedly urged teachers to attack Agatha and her husband Patrick during their wedding.

According to the FIR, on November 21, one ‘Rx Sangma’ in a Facebook post urged the teachers to “shoot the duo …”.

He posted the comments on a Facebook group, ‘The Times of Garo Hills’.

He alleged that they were getting married misusing the funds meant for the teachers and GHADC employees.

On November 22, one ‘Ringring Ganti’ in the ‘Information Today’ page on Facebook allegedly said the people behind the Rx Sangma post could be teachers or GHADC employees.

Ganti also allegedly pointed fingers at Congress workers, saying that they too could also be behind the threat to Agatha and Patrick.

“The above persons posted these with the purpose of causing annoyance, intimidation, ill-will, inconvenience, danger, insult, enmity and hatred,” said the FIR.

It said they have been persistently making use of social media against the teachers’ body.

West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) MGR Kumar said investigation was on.
