Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma extends regards to Shillong Archdiocese’s new Archbishop

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has extended his regards to the new Archbishop of Shillong Archdiocese, Victor Lyndoh.

The Vatican had appointed Voctor Lyndoh, former Bishop of Jowai Diocese, as the new Archbishop in December last.

The Archbishop of Guwahati, John Moolachira installed Lyndoh as the Archbishop during a solemn mass at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians in Shillong on Saturday.

The chief minister who was present during the ceremony also appreciated the active role that churches in Meghalaya played by providing food, shelter and other services to the needy during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“Blessed to be a part of the installation of Most Reverend Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh as new Archbishop of Shillong Archdiocese, appointed by the Holy Father @Pontifex. May he use his many gifts with generosity and faithfulness to serve the Lord and lead His people,” Conrad Sangma tweeted.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Lyngdoh urged the public to join hands to eradicate poverty and health deficiency, especially in the rural areas of Meghalaya.

Taking up his new role, he said that he will work towards fostering bonds between people and asked all religious leaders and priests to unite in developing the society.
