Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday directed the state transport department to hand over the land and prepare a detailed project report (DPR) within a month for the construction of the Shillong helipad.
Chief minister Sangma tweeted that he had discussed the matter with the officials of the state transport department and directed the department to hand over the land and prepare the DPR within a month so that necessary funding may be availed from the ministry of civil aviation.
“Discussed the construction of the Shillong Helipad with officials from the Transport Department,” chief minister Sangma tweeted.
“The department is directed to hand over the land & prepare DPR within a month so that necessary funding may be availed from @MoCA_GoI. Dept to also ensure work is allotted by Feb 2021,” the chief minister added.
On Independence Day, the chief minister in his speech informed that transport infrastructure, in general, and air connectivity, in particular, is an area of importance.
“Direct flights to New Delhi are expected to be operationalized soon. A new helipad at New Shillong Township will also be constructed,” the chief minister stated.
