New Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday distributed the portfolios among the members his Council of Ministers who took oath on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has kept Personnel, Political, Cabinet Affairs, Finance, Planning and other portfolios which have not been allotted to any Minister.

Former Congress Minister Prestone Tynsong, who joined the NPP before the Meghalaya Assembly polls 2018 and won the Pynursla seat on NPP ticket, has been allotted PWD (Roads), Animal Husbandry & Veterinary,  Housing, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour.

On the other hand, NPP leader and Conrad’s brother James PK Sangma, who won the Dadenggre seat, has been given Home (Police), Home (Jail), Home (Passport), Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Power, District Council Affairs and Law.

Former Cabinet Minister AL Hek, who shifted his alliance to the BJP ahead of the Meghalaya Assembly polls 2018, has been allotted Health & Family Welfare, Information and Public Relations (IRR), Arts & Culture. Hek won Pynthorumkhrah seat on BJP ticket.

NPP’s Sniawbhalang Dhar has been allotted Transport, Commerce & Industries, Community & Rural Development and Soil & Water Conservation.

Comingone Yambon, who is also from the NPP, has been allotted PWD (Buildings), General Administration Department (GAD)and Fisheries.

United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Metbah Lyngdoh has been allotted Water Resources, Tourism, Excise & Home Guards & Civil Defence.

Lehkmen Rymbai, who is also from UDP, has been allotted Forest& Environment, Education, Border Area Development (BAD) .

UDP MLA Kyrmen Shylla, who is the youngest minister the new NPP-led coalition government, has been allotted Revenue & Disaster Management, Social Welfare, Printing & Stationery.  He won from Khliehriat constituency.

There are also two ministers in the five-party coalition government led by the NPP from the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) party.

While PDF’s Banteidor Lyngdoh has been given Agriculture, Horticulture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Sericulture & Weaving, the party’s another leader Hamletson Dohling has been allotted Urban Affairs including Municipal Administration and Information Technology.

On the other hand, the lone minister from the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) Samlin Malngiang has been allotted Public Health Engineering (PHE), Secretariat Administration (SAD) and Legal Metrology.

It is to be noted that the Conrad-led ministry has no woman minister.
