Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has strongly condemned the recent brutal assault on a woman in West Garo Hills district, assuring the public that strict measures will be taken against those responsible.
In a press briefing on Friday, Sangma expressed his dismay over the incident. “We condemn such heinous acts and the individuals responsible will face stringent actions,” he stated emphatically.

The Meghalaya chief minister emphasized the importance of adhering to legal procedures.
“What transpired was completely wrong. Any issues or concerns should be addressed through the proper legal channels. Taking the law into one’s own hands is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated,” Sangma said.
He reiterated that the manner in which the assault occurred was highly inappropriate, and firm actions will be enforced against the perpetrators.

Authorities have already apprehended six individuals in connection with the public flogging of the woman.
