Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma conveyed his best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Easter Sunday.

He said that like Jesus Christ’s resurrection was a miracle, the lives of the people will be touched by miracles if they have faith in the Lord.

Easter Sunday was celebrated with much enthusiasm across Meghalaya, which has a sizable Christian population.

“May the resurrection of Christ remind us that miracles can happen when we have faith. May you find your miracle this #Easter2021 and may God’s promise strengthen your #faith to face whatever comes tomorrow,” Conrad Sangma tweeted.

Similarly, Easter Sunday was celebrated across the other northeastern states with people going for special church service on the occasion.

In Assam also, people from the Christian community could be seen attending special mass dressed in their best attire.

Young and old joined in the celebrations, exchanging pleasantries.

The Nagaland government had issues orders directing the people to strictly adhere to Covid-19 protocols while celebrating Easter in view of the rising number of positive cases in the state.

However, in Tripura, Easter Sunday was to coincide with the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, which were later deferred to April 6 on demands by the Christian community as well as CPI(M).
