The Meghalaya cabinet will again sit next week to take a call whether the anti-coronavirus lockdown should continue in the state.

The 21-day nationwide lockdown will end on April 14.

“The state cabinet will again sit to review the present situation next week,” deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said.

He said that the state government will soon take a call on whether to extend the lockdown till the end of this month.

Closure of all educational institutes has been extended till April 30.

But the state cabinet has allowed construction works to resume from April 15 but allowed only private transportation which drew sharp criticisms from various quarters.

The government employees were also asked to come back to work from April 15, but no public transport is allowed to operate.

So far, no positive case of Coronavirus has been detected even after 123 samples were tested at the NEIGRIHMS.

Tynsong said that the government is not at all complacent, and fully prepared in case of any eventuality.
