The Meghalaya cabinet on Wednesday approved the Meghalaya Labour Law Amendment Bill, 2020.
Sources informed that the meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has approved the Amendment Bill to amend certain provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, the Industries Disputes Act, 1947 and the Contract Labour Act, 1970.
Sources said that the objective of bringing the amendment is to ensure ease of conducting business and ensuring more buoyancy in the economy.
The Amendment Bill is likely to be tabled and passed in the upcoming re-assembled budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly which will be held for three days on May 20, 21 and 22.
