Border Security Force troopers in Meghalaya seized a truck engaged in cattle smuggling.
Personnel of Border Security Force’s (BSF) 97th battalion intercepted the truck engaged in cattle smuggling near Sonapur area in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya.

The truck was smuggling 30 cattle.
The BSF troopers meanwhile seized the truck bearing registration number AS 01 LC 1816.
The driver of the truck has also been apprehended the BSF troopers.

The manner in which the cattle were being transported is in contravention to Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Acts.

Earlier, the BSF had claimed that as per a study on cattle smuggling, a link with drug smuggling was revealed in the State.
The money generated through smuggling is used for funding insurgent groups active in the state.
