Dipul Marak, who previously served as the chief executive member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) in Meghalaya, had joined the BJP after being denied a ticket by the National People’s Party (NPP) in the previous council elections.

However, he faced defeat in the polls.

Similarly, his bid in last year’s assembly elections in Meghalaya from Rangsakona constituency also ended in failure.
