Meghalaya: BJP suffers blow in Garo Hills, 3 leaders quit

The BJP in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills suffered a blow as number of key leaders of the district resigned from the primary membership of the party on Sunday.

Party members in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, including Mandal committee president, Kullen Sangma, Mahila Morcha president Serola Sangma and Yuva Morcha president Charles Sangma, resigned en masse following the delay in the announcement of tickets and for not contesting the Tura Lok Sabha seat.

They submitted their resignation letters along with other party members and their followers to the BJP East Garo Hills district president.

They said they are angry over the continued support to the ‘most corrupt, ‘greedy and self-centred National Peoples’ Party (NPP) by the BJP.
