Meghalaya BJP to crowdsource manifesto suggestions for Lok Sabha elections

SHILLONG: In an effort to engage with the electorate of the state, the BJP in Meghalaya has initiated a campaign to gather public input for framing the party manifesto ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Dubbed as ‘Viksit Bharat Modi ki Guarantee’, the campaign was launched by Meghalaya BJP president Rikman G Momin on Wednesday (February 28).

The aim is to incorporate citizens’ suggestions into the party manifesto.

The overarching goal of this initiative for the BJP is to gather diverse public opinions, which they believe will play a pivotal role in shaping a dynamic and prosperous future for the nation and its people.

Addressing the launch event, Rikman G Momin emphasized, “The BJP has always championed the belief that democracy is a public responsibility, and the authority to set agendas should not be confined to a select few. Through this campaign, our objective is to craft a manifesto that reflects a national consensus.”

The party asserts that this approach will offer a unique avenue for collective policymaking and lay the foundation for participatory governance, ultimately democratizing decision-making and placing it in the hands of the Indian populace.

As part of the campaign, suggestion boxes will be placed at BJP offices in each mandal, where citizens can deposit their recommendations on policies and agendas crucial for national progress and inclusive development.

Additionally, suggestions are invited from NGOs, self-help groups, various unions and associations, cooperatives, and the general public.

For those unable to visit party offices, an online submission option is available via the NaMo app.
