The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council of Meghalaya on Tuesday introduced amendment bills for hiking the salary of members including the chief executive member and chairman of the council.
The bills were introduced by deputy chief executive member, Pynïaid Sing Syiem in charge finance on the first day of the summer session of the KHADC in Shillong on Tuesday.
The bills include the KHADC chairman’s and deputy chairman’s and members of the executive committee (salaries and allowances) (Eleventh Amendment) Bill, 2019, the KHADC (Leader of Opposition) (Salaries and Allowances) (Third Amendment) Bill, 2019, the KHADC Members’ (Salaries and Allowances) (Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2019.
Once these amendment bills get the assent of the Governor, the CEM salary will jump from Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,26,900 per month.
The salary of Deputy CEM, chairman, leader of Opposition will increase from Rs 43,070 to Rs 1,22,300 per month.
Similarly, the salary of deputy chairman and executive members has been hiked from Rs 40,740 to Rs 1,16,800 per month.
The salary of members from Rs 38,250 has been hiked to Rs 1,09,100 per month.
Besides these bills, the United Khasi Jaiñtia Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribals) Rules, 2019, The KHAD (Appointment of Judicial Officers/Magistrate and Services) Rules, 2019 were also introduced in the House.
All these bills will be passed on the last day of the session on Thursday.
