Guwahati: A Bangladeshi national was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) from the Indo-Bangla border in West Garo Hills of Meghalaya.

The Bangladeshi national was identified as Rabiul Islam, a resident of Sherpur in Bangladesh.

He was apprehended by the BSF for allegedly crossing the border and entering India illegally.

After apprehension, the accused was handed over to the Dalu Police Station for further legal proceedings.

It may be mentioned that over the past few months with the rise in tension in Bangladesh, there have been several infiltration attempts on the Indo-Bangla border.

Most of the attempts are made by Bangladeshi nationals who plan to seek work opportunities in India.

A major portion of such infiltrators usually use touts to help them with forged documents such as Aadhaar and PAN cards.
