Guwahati: The Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) has released revised and verified data for the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0, shortly after the statewide launch of the initiative at Lady Keane College in Shillong.
According to the updated figures, 558 people from the general population tested positive for HIV between April and June 2026. During the same three-month period, HIV was detected in 60 pregnant women, MACS said.
The latest HIV Estimation Report 2025 estimates that 9,244 people are living with HIV (PLHIV) in Meghalaya.
As part of Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0, MACS will conduct 1,026 village-level meetings across the state to expand community outreach and strengthen awareness about HIV prevention and treatment.
The campaign will also include 3,000 awareness sessions in schools and another 85 programmes in colleges. In addition, 30 folk performances and 30 flash mobs have been planned to engage communities through public awareness activities.
Door-to-door outreach will cover around 15,000 households, while 12 special camps will be organised at government hospitals.
MACS has also planned 10 pop-up awareness booths at various locations across Meghalaya to provide information and encourage people to access HIV testing and treatment services.
The campaign seeks to improve public understanding of HIV prevention, testing and treatment while extending awareness efforts to communities across the state.
