The National Lok Adalat has settled as many as 224 cases including an amount of Rs 4,33,82,004.28 in Meghalaya on Saturday.
The National Lok Adalat was organized by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in the State under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
The Naitonal Lok Adalat was held under the patronage of Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Ajay Kumar Mittal, who is also the patron-in-chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice H S Thangkhiew, the Judge of Meghalaya High Court who is also an Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
Around 647 pre-litigation cases and 436 pending cases were posted in the National Lok Adalat for settlement.
The cases included MACT, Bank Recovery, civil cases and compoundable criminal cases.
The cases were settled along with the co-ordination of the District Legal Services Authorities.
In the High Court of Meghalaya alone, an amount of Rs 2.17 crore was settled.
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority expressed its gratitude to the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court and Justice H S Thangkhiew for their encouragement and support for making the National Lok Adalat a success in the State.
