Earlier, the opposition MLAs including Mukul Sangma alleged that the MDA government was responsible for bringing down the name and fame of the state by allowing various illegal activities to take place including transportation of coal, besides hike of amount for constructing the Ganol Hydro Electric Project.
Chief minister Sangma also replied to the discussion and refuted the Opposition’s charges even as he compared the performances as well as the law and order situation during the tenure of the previous Congress-led government and the present MDA government now.
After a long reply, the chief minister urged the Opposition to withdraw the no-confidence motion and support the initiatives of the government.
Mukul Sangma said the whole Opposition was collective in the decision not to withdraw it because the government was not willing to come clean on various allegations raised by the opposition.
Subsequently, the Speaker called for a voice vote which saw the ruling MDA defeating the Opposition’s ‘no-confidence motion.’
