In view of the 21-day lockdown, the closure period of educational institutes in Meghalaya has been further extended from April 1 to April 15.
The 21-day lockdown was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from March 24 midnight as a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID19.
In an earlier notification, all educational institutes of the state were asked to shut down from March 17-31 as a preventive measure in view of the spread of coronavirus across the country and the globe.
A notification issued by principal secretary (education), DP Wahlang on Monday said the closure of all educational institutes has been extended in order to comply with the lockdown order by the central government to prevent the possibility of an outbreak and spread of COVID19, and as a precautionary measure to safeguard the citizens of the state.
In a notification issued on March 22, 2020, the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) had cancelled the remaining papers of the HSSLC examination, 2020 until further notice.
MBoSE controller of examinations, TR Laloo said as per the direction of the education department and keeping in mind the safety and security of the students’ community in the context of the COVID19, the remaining papers of the HSSLC examination 2020 scheduled for March 23, 24 & 25 stand postponed until further notice.
Other related examination works like spot evaluation were also postponed accordingly, Laloo had said.
