Shivinder Singh Sidhu, who served as the Governor of Meghalaya, Manipur and Goa, passed away on Thursday.

He was 89 at the time of his demise.

Sidhu was the Governor of Meghalaya from October 29, 2007 to June 30, 2008 when DD Lapang was the Chief Minister of the State.

Late SS Sidhu also served as the Governor of Goa from July 22, 2008 to August 26, 2011.

Born on October 13, 1929, SS Sidhu, served as an IAS officer (batch of 1952, Uttar Pradesh State cadre) in various capacities.

Late SS Sidhu was the Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization from August 1988 to August 1991.

He later became the Governor of Manipur on August 6, 2004 succeeding Arvind Dave and continued till July 22, 2008.

At the demise of SS Sidhu, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has expressed his deep condolence to the family members of former Meghalaya Governor SS Sidhu.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma on his Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “I on behalf of the people of Meghalaya express my deepest condolences to the family of Late SS Sidhu, who served the State as the Governor. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla has also condoled the demise of SS Sidhu.
