Amid the unrest in Shillong, the escort vehicles of Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik were attacked at Mawlai area of the city on Tuesday evening.
The incident took place around 4 pm on the highway when the vehicles were returning to Raj Bhawan in Shillong from Guwahati Airport.
Two police escort vehicles and two official cars of the Raj Bhawan were damaged as unknown miscreants pelted stones on them.
However, no casualty has been reported so far.
Meghalaya has been witnessing violent protests following the killing of former HNLC rebel Chesterfield Thangkhiew.
On August 15, petrol bombs were hurled at the residence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in Shillong.
The state government had suspended internet connectivity in four districts and imposed a curfew after the law and order situation worsened in the state.
