Meghalaya has registered a total of 28 new COVID19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the total to 346.
The new positive cases include 19 BSF personnel from East Khasi Hills, 6 personnel of the Assam Regimental Centre from East Khasi Hills, and 3 Army personnel from Rangmen, Umroi in Ri-Bhoi district.
A total of 198 BSF personnel have tested positive for COVID19 in the state so far.
Out of the total 346 COVID19 positive cases registered in Meghalaya so far, 297 are active cases while 47 persons have recovered from the disease.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 2 positive patients including an infant from Arunachal Pradesh.
The patient, who recovered from the infection on Wednesday, is one BSF jawan from Tura.
On June 30, there were only 10 active cases in Meghalaya and as on Wednesday, the active cases in the state touched 297-mark.
The number of COVID19 positive cases in India increased to 9.3 lakh on Wednesday after 29,429 new infections were reported from across the country.
Over 24,300 people have succumbed to COVID19 infections while nearly 60,000 have recovered.
