Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma reviews state’s preparedness for Covid-19 vaccination drive

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday met deputy commissioners of different districts and health officials to discuss the state’s preparedness ahead of the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive.

The ministry of health and family welfare will begin the mass immunization drive against Covod-19 in the country on January 16.

The health ministry conducted nation-wide dry-runs in all states and union territories of the country to check the preparedness for the vaccine.

The Meghalaya government conducted dry-runs in 11 districts.

“In today’s meeting with DCs and Health Department, also discussed the #CovidVaccine preparatory arrangements in #Meghalaya for Phase I of the vaccination drive that will commence nationwide from the 16th of January, 2021,” Conrad Sangma tweeted.

The chief minister also reviewed maternal and child health indicators during the meeting.

He also directed the deputy commissioners and health officials instructed to develop a strategy for enhancing maternal and child health at the state, district, block, primary health centre and community health centre levels in the state.

He also stressed on the need to increase institutional deliveries to save lives of mothers and their newborns.
