Shillong: Former Karnataka minister Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar was officially sworn in as the new governor of Meghalaya on Tuesday (July 30).
The oath taking ceremony was held at the Raj Bhawan in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The oath of office was administered by Meghalaya high court chief justice S Vaidyanathan.
The event was attended by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma, cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
Vijayashankar was first elected to the Karnataka legislative assembly in 1994.

He win a seat in the Lok Sabha from the Mysore constituency in 1998, later securing re-election in 2004.
His political career includes serving as a cabinet minister in the Karnataka government.
