The Meghalaya Government has said that it cannot increase the salaries of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in the State.
Informing this Meghalaya Education Minister Lakmen Rymbui said that the State Government is “not in a position” to increase salaries of SSA teachers in the State.

Notably, the SSA teachers in Meghalaya have been demanding hike in their salaries and have set February 18 as the deadline before the State Government to fulfil their demand.

Notably, the Meghalaya Government has been hit by a financial crisis post COVID-19 pandemic, with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma requesting the Centre to release the State’s share from central taxes to bail out his NPP-led Government of the financial crisis.
