The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya frontier got its new Inspector General (IG) with the taking charge of BSF cadre officer, Hardeep Singh on Wednesday.
Singh succeeded an incumbent Inspector General, Kuldeep Saini, who retired from service after rendering 36 years of service.
Singh joined the Frontier on promotion and posting from the BSF Jammu Frontier.
“He (Hardeep Singh) is a highly professional BSF cadre officer of 1986 batch and a well decorated officer having served in various BSF headquarters and Units in various capacities including the prestigious training institute BSF Academy, Tekanpur,” a communiqué issued by the BSF headquarters in Shillong on Wednesday said.
On taking over charge, the new Inspector General emphasized on the co-operation of all concerned stake holders for an effective border management in the State, while expressing his concern on maintaining cordial relations with the border population which is the first step towards having peaceful and crime free border.
Singh said that the main task of the BSF is to create a sense of security among the border population and this will remain his first priority as IG of the Meghalaya frontier.
