The personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) carried out a joint operation on destruction of illegal cultivation of hemp ( a species of cannabis) under the supervision of B D Sangma, additional magistrate of South West Garo Hills within the village of Kuligoan under Mahenderganj police station at South Garo Hills district in Meghalaya.
During the operation, approximately 2500-2600 plants in 32 patches of cultivated land of hemp were destroyed.
Destruction of the remaining illegal cultivated hemp in 40 to 45 patches will be conveyed after discussion with the Deputy Commissioner of Ampati, sources in BSF informed.
All these cultivated hemp is meant for smuggling purpose and exposed the nexus between ganja syndicates and villagers of said village.
