The Additional Director General (ADG) of BSF, Nasir Kamal visited Meghalaya and reviewed the security scenario in the state.
Kamal, who is also the Special DG Headquarter (Easter Command), Kolkata visited the headquarters of the BSF Meghalaya frontier from Sunday to Tuesday. He along with Lalatendu Mohanti, Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya frontier visited border areas in Khasi Hills of the state.

On Monday, Kamal inaugurated a Skill Development Center at Mawpat BSF Camp and Umpling BSF Camp in Shillong and interacted with BSF Officers and briefed them on operational situation, besides interacting with jawans and met a Sainik Sanmelan.
Kamal further visited the Border Outpost at Hat Thymmai, Dangar and Bholaganj in East Khasi Hills district and interacted with troops deployed on border and reviewed security scenario of Meghalaya’s border.
He also interacted with BGB troops and handed over sweets as a gesture of good relationship between the two border guarding forces.

A plantation drive was conducted on Tuesday and the BSF launched this campaign to educate the BSF personnel and instill a feeling of doing something for the “Mother Earth”.
The BSF planned to plant saplings all over India (BSF deployment) to turn BSF campuses greener for a better environment/climate.
During this special campaign, around 15,000 saplings of various kinds were planted by the troops of BSF Meghalaya Frontier and their family members in all locations and border outposts.
The plantation programme at BSF campus Umpling was participated by thousands of BSF personnel and civilians, and other civil dignitaries from nearby areas.
