At a time when the ‘Padman’ phenomenon has gripped the nation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also seems to have joined the bandwagon.

The party has promised to provide free sanitary napkins to women from BPL families in Meghalaya if voted to power. BJP is actively trying to win the support of the underprivileged sections of the state.

BJP released its vision document for Meghalaya on Thursday where they promised to provide free sanitary napkins to all women from BPL families, and provide pension to daily-wage labourer’s if they come to power in Meghalaya.

In the vision document released by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, it promised to implement the Seventh Pay Commission for State employees.

Business and job opportunities will be created in the state, with around two lakh employment in the tourism sector.

The vision document also stated that if voted to power, the party would upgrade the healthcare system, build a new cancer hospital and facilitating Rs 5 lakh insurance under the Center’s new healthcare programme.

The BJP has also promised ‘pukka’ roads, houses for everyone, and to set up more schools in Meghalaya and resolve issues related to the inter-state boundaries, in the vision document
