Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) have expressed strong disapproval over the recent incidents of Assam-registered vehicles being stopped from entering Meghalaya.

The student bodies, under the umbrella of the North East Students’ Organization (NESO), have called for immediate resolution of the issue.

Both AASU and KSU have emphasized the strong historical ties between Assam and Meghalaya and the need for maintaining cordial relations between the two states.

They have appealed to the governments of both states to hold discussions and find a permanent solution to the problem.

The student bodies have also urged tourist taxi associations in both states to maintain harmony and understanding.

It may be mentioned that the HNYF had been blocking all vehicles with Assam registration from entering certain parts of Meghalaya.

Most of these vehicles are said to be tourist vehicles.

There has been no act of violence in relation to the incident.
