Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Friday that 90 percent of the budget for education is spent on salaries of teachers in the state.
“It is a matter of concern and we are trying to work out measures to ensure adequate funds are made available to improve infrastructure and facilities in both elementary, secondary and higher education,” the CM said at an international seminar in Synod College.
“We are trying to provide the best opportunities for the youth by framing a dedicated youth policy,” he added, reported TOI.
Conrad Sangma is the newly elected and 12th Chief Minister of the state.
