A 67-year-old positive patient in Meghalaya has passed away at NEIGRIHMS in Shillong on Thursday night.
The patient was taken to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on Wednesday due to difficulty in breathing, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War said, quoting NEIGRIHMS official.
With this, the number of deaths due to COVID19 has climbed up to five in Meghalaya.
According to the latest update, Meghalaya currently has a total of 448 active COVID19 cases.
Out of the positive cases, 306 cases are from the Border Security Force (BSF) and armed forces while 142 cases are civilians.
A total of 82 patients have recovered from the disease in Meghalaya, informed Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma in a tweet.
In an earlier tweet, chief minister Sangma said, “Meghalaya government has decided to initiate public random testing in 71 clusters identified by the health department covering the entire state.”
“Our 7000 Covid19 Management Committees will assist the department in this exercise at the local level,” the chief minister added.
