Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday received the chairman of the 15th Finance Commission, N.K. Singh in Shillong.

A team of the 15th Finance Commission led by its chairman N.K. Singh had a meeting in the city with the top government officials and Cabinet ministers of Meghalaya.
According to information, the state government has already submitted a memorandum before the 15th Finance Commission giving a detailed requirement in difference sectors of the state.

Informing about the arrival of the team of 15th Finance Commission, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on his Twitter handle stated, “Received the Hon’ble Chairman of the Fifteenth Finance Commission N K Singh & team in #Shillong.”
Stating that the Meghalaya government hopes the commission would consider the requests made by the state government regarding its requirement for development in different sectors, chief minister Conrad Sangma added, “We look forward to the commission and GoI to consider our request for according special attention so that we are able to take #Meghalaya forward.”

According to information, the Commission will also separately meet representatives of rural local bodies, representatives of urban local bodies, representatives of trade and industry bodies apart from representatives of political parties of the state.
Meetings will also be held with the women self help groups and the Aqua Entrepreneurs supported by the Meghalaya State Aquaculture Mission (MSAM).
The Commission will also inspect MNREGA works in the State and interact with members of the village employment councils.
The Commission has already received a detailed presentation from the principal accountant general (Audit) of Meghalaya on the finances of the state government.
