11 Silver Commendations, 39 Bronze Commendations awarded to Meghalaya Police officers

The Meghalaya Police on Tuesday awarded a number of police officials for their outstanding contributions in the line of duty.

Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP), R. Chandranathan awarded 50 Commendations in silver and bronze category, to the police officials.

The ceremony was held amid strict adherence to COVID19 protocols, with officers from the Western Range and New Delhi, participating in the momentous occasion through video conferencing, and the officials posted in Eastern Range, attending the ceremony in the Conference Hall of the Meghalaya Police headquarters.

Police officials (Eastern Range) from the rank of Superintendent of Police and below (of Eastern Range) were awarded the DGP’s Commendation Medals and Certificates by the DGP himself.

For officials of Western Range, the awards were given away by Deputy Inspector General of Police (WR), A. Kumar.

Out of 50 DGP’s Commendations, 11 Silver Commendations were awarded to officers in the rank of Superintendent of Police and 39 Bronze Commendations were awarded to police officials of the subsequent ranks.

The ceremony began with the welcome address delivered by S. S. Kynjing, IPS, Inspector General of Police (A/HQ/F&ES/Communication), followed by a keynote address by the Director General of Police and a valedictory speech by the Additional Director General of Police (SB/CID), H. Nongpluh.
