IAS officer Dr. Joram Beda has released a new book exploring the role of information in shaping reality, life and consciousness.

Shillong: Shillong-based IAS officer and medical doctor Joram Beda has released a new book that explores the fundamental question of information and its role in shaping reality, life and consciousness.

Titled Nature of Information: Shaping Reality, Life, and Consciousness, the book has been published by UK-based Routledge, part of the Taylor & Francis Group. It presents an interdisciplinary study spanning physics, biology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, philosophy and consciousness studies.

The book argues that information may not only describe reality but could also function as a foundational organising principle, potentially forming the very structure of reality itself. It further examines how information influences life, the human mind, knowledge systems, AI and broader philosophical questions about existence.

According to the publication details, the book has gained early international visibility across digital platforms. It recently ranked No. 1 on Amazon Indiaโ€™s โ€œHot New Releasesโ€ list in the Metaphysics category and also featured among the Top 10 bestsellers in the same category.

On Rakuten Kobo, the eBook has also shown visibility across several country stores in the Metaphysics category, including rankings such as No. 3 in Peru, No. 8 in Colombia, No. 11 in Cyprus and Estonia, No. 13 in Argentina, No. 15 in Chile, No. 17 in the Czech Republic, No. 36 in Denmark and No. 41 in the Philippines.

The book is available on multiple platforms including Routledge, Amazon, Google Books, VitalSource and several university bookstore networks in the United States such as Miami University, SUNY Oneonta, William Woods University, The Masterโ€™s University, Elmhurst University and Ursinus College.

Joram Beda, a 2008-batch IAS officer and JIPMER alumnus, is currently serving as Commissioner and Secretary (Health), Government of Meghalaya.
