A huge cache of arms and explosives were recovered from a village in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya on Wednesday morning, police sources disclosed.

Police recovered three RPGs from different locations in Dorengkigre area, according to a report in Shillong Today.

Notably, it was also the first time that two mortars were recovered.

The weapons recovered include two numbers of two inches mortar, 2 RPGs with cover, 1 mortal shell, 1 RPG launcher, 1 AK rifle, 1 HK 5.56 mm assault rifle, 1 land mine detonator cap, 12 pistol magazines, 153 5.56 mm ammunition, 55 remote bomb circuit, 94 7.62 mm ammunition, 11 bomb remote control, 1 walkie talkie, and 13 electronic detonators.

Police suspect that an AK rifle recovered during the search belonged to the state Police department, which may have been taken away during one of the ambushes.

Meanwhile, police have launched a massive hunt for possibility of more hidden weapons in the area.
