Meghalaya farmers are up in arms against deduction of actual weight of goods.
As a mark of protest, the farmers under the banner of Hill Farmers Union (HFU) have decided not to sell agricultural produces at Iewduh or popularly known Bara Bazaar, the iconic market of Shillong on Monday.

Instead the farmers would gather at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall at Mawkhar at 11 am to discuss the problem and find a solution to the vexed issue.
HFU president, Commander Shangpliang said that the farmers have been complaining almost every day that the actual weight of produces from was reduced by few kilograms by the buyers.
He also said that the farmers were earlier delighted when the Syiem of Hima Mylliem issued an order to stop such deduction, but it still continues till date.
Shangpliang urged all farmers to attend the meeting as a mark of protest at Mawkhar.
He further asserted that the Union will not relax till the problem is solved and urged the farmers to unite and fight together in order to be able to solve the problem.
