Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma was of the opinion that the Meghalaya Entrepreneurship Recognition Award has supported entrepreneurs and start-ups in the State.

Every month the government recognizes an โ€˜Entrepreneur of the Monthโ€™ and helps them expand their business by awarding them Rs one lakh.

The initiative also gives them the opportunity to network and connect with investors and help build their market strength.

โ€œMy government is committed to supporting our entrepreneurs who shape our Stateโ€™s ecosystem and help our economy thrive,โ€ Conrad was quoted as saying, according to reports.

Three notable entrepreneurs from the State who were awarded include Perastill R Sangma of โ€˜Aslida Food Productsโ€™.

It is a manufacturer of products made of locally available fruits.

Through the award money, Perastil has now built a small production facility for his business.

Dasumarlin Majaw of โ€˜Smoky Falls Tribe Coffeeโ€™ is an organic coffee manufacturer.

Dasumarlinโ€™s business started in her garage at home and now, she also runs a small cafรฉ at Khyndai Lad in Shillong.

James E Dkhar of โ€˜Nela Handloom Training Centreโ€™ is a textile producer who trains and employs local weavers.

James now has a growing local market and continues to empower local weavers.

The chief ministerโ€™s Meghalaya Entrepreneur Recognition Award is also supported by the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE) which is a nodal institution in the State.

It facilitates rapid economic transformation through entrepreneurship education and promotion of micro-enterprises involving the youth, women and other critical target groups in the State.
