The initiative also gives them the opportunity to network and connect with investors and help build their market strength.

“My government is committed to supporting our entrepreneurs who shape our State’s ecosystem and help our economy thrive,” Conrad was quoted as saying, according to reports.

Three notable entrepreneurs from the State who were awarded include Perastill R Sangma of ‘Aslida Food Products’.

It is a manufacturer of products made of locally available fruits.

Through the award money, Perastil has now built a small production facility for his business.

Dasumarlin Majaw of ‘Smoky Falls Tribe Coffee’ is an organic coffee manufacturer.

Dasumarlin’s business started in her garage at home and now, she also runs a small café at Khyndai Lad in Shillong.

James E Dkhar of ‘Nela Handloom Training Centre’ is a textile producer who trains and employs local weavers.

James now has a growing local market and continues to empower local weavers.

The chief minister’s Meghalaya Entrepreneur Recognition Award is also supported by the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE) which is a nodal institution in the State.

It facilitates rapid economic transformation through entrepreneurship education and promotion of micro-enterprises involving the youth, women and other critical target groups in the State.

This video in youtube shared by Conrad in his official Twitter account speaks volumes about the endeavour:
