Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday while taking serious note of the severe traffic congestion in capital city of Shillong convened a meeting with the officials of the Police Department, Urban Affairs and other line departments in presence of Home Minister James K Sangma to discuss the menacing issue.
During the meeting, Conrad said that his Government is keen to find out a permanent solution to the cumbersome traffic snarls that adversely affect daily commuters in Shillong.
The Chief Minister also sought feedbacks and suggestions from all the stakeholders on how to ease the growing traffic menace in the city of Shillong.
The Chief Minister further said, he will convene another meeting soon to work out modalities towards mitigating the traffic problem of the city after getting feedback and suggestions from the stakeholders.
Notably, Shillong Police had earlier recommended the State Government to engage some consultation firm in order to conduct a study and see what mechanism would be workable in Shillong to ease the traffic congestion.
