Betshwajohn Lyngdoh Peinlang of Kaitkohram village showed his courage on November 23 last year when he saved the life of his three-year-old brother. The two brothers were cooking when a fire broke out. Their mother had gone to the nearby stream to wash clothes.

The children ran out of the house but the three-year-old went back inside. By that time, the entire house was in flames. Betshwajohn did not waste time and went into the flames to save his brother. He carried the toddler to a nearby cattle shed till the neighbours came for help.
