The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) announced another list of six candidates who will contest the upcoming Meghalaya Assembly polls slated to be held on February 27, 2018.
The second list was announced by Meghalaya NCP working president Vijay Raj in Shillong on Thursday evening.
The party candidates’ list for Meghalaya Assembly polls 2018 includes the name of NCP state president and two-time MLA, Saleng A Sangma. Saleng will contest the Assembly polls from Gambegre Assembly constituency.
The other NCP candidates who have also got party tickets to fight this year’s Assembly polls include Dorendro M Sangma, Priyam Ch Sangma, Nilkamal D Sangma, Dr Tweel K Marak and former MLA Desang M Sangma.
While Dorendro will fight the polls from Dalu constituency, Priyam will contest from Kharkutta constituency, Nilkamal from Tikrikilla constituency, Dr Tweel from Resubelpara constituency and former MLA Desang will contest from Rongjeng constituency.
Earlier, the NCP had announced six candidates in its first list.
It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya Assembly elections will be held to elect all 60 members to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The results of Meghalaya Assembly polls will be declared on March 3, 2018.
On the other hand, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are yet to announce their party candidates’ lists.
Regarding announcement of the party candidates’ list, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary CP Joshi on Wednesday stated that the list of party candidates recommended by the Pradesh Election Committee would be submitted before the party’s screening committee and later it will have to be approved by the party High Command.
He informed that the party candidates’ list would be announced before the date of nomination.
